EDITORIAL PROFILE
LSC's Equal Justice Magazine is the country's only feature magazine dedicated exclusively to exploring equal justice issues and the work of public interest lawyers. EJM tells the untold stories of courageous clients and intrepid attorneys who turn shallow lawyer stereotypes on their head. The quarterly publication depicts the sometimes life-and-death struggles of poor Americans seeking a fair shake in the eyes of the law, and it profiles the unsung heroes of the legal world who donate their time and talents in order to ensure that courtroom outcomes are not dictated by the size of litigants' wallets.
EJM's editorial content combines in-depth human interest features with compelling interviews with some of Washington's top newsmakers and political leaders, vignettes and photos from the national legal services community, and thoughtful analysis about how to improve the civil justice system in America. The publication is produced by the Washington D.C.-based Legal Services Corporation (LSC), the congressionally chartered nonprofit organization created to ensure that poor Americans have their day in court.
With a circulation of over 10,000, EJM is an important source of information for the U.S. legal community and policy makers. The free magazine is distributed to attorneys at hundreds of legal services programs, bar associations, law school clinics, attorneys general/district attorney offices, general counsels of the Fortune 500, and major law firms nationwide. The distribution at major law firms targets those with active pro bono programs. For many attorneys at such firms, EJM represents their first recognition on a national scale for the valiant work they do every day on behalf of the indigent. Policy makers in Washington D.C. and around the nation also receive EJM. EJM is distributed to key members of the Administration, Congress, federal and state supreme court justices, major metropolitan city officials, and a broad base of national social services and philanthropic organizations concerned with poverty law issues.
